As many of you probably know, after the success obtained last year, we are organizing the 2006 EuroCup Event in February 8th to 11th. The Club Náutico Altea, the spanish fleet members and spanish national secretary have the pleasure of inviting all Flying Dutchman sailors to this event.

The venue is the Club Náutico Altea where, during many years, they have been organizing this kind of events, so we can expect a big success again. Altea is a nice Town 130 Km. southern Valencia that you can reach directly by AP-7 motorway from the French border.

The organizers of the EuroFlyingCup 2006 (this is the name of the event), in order to engage as many crews as possible, offers very interesting things (free accomodation for the first 40 entries, free dinners everyday, picnics on the water, t-shirts, souvenirs... and more).

In Spain, specially in the South-East, the weather in February is fine and we expect that many of you and other europeans crews, missing sailing during the winter season, can attend this regatta.

Additionally, for those crews attending St. Petersburg interested in the possibilily of sending their boats directly from Altea, we are in touch with MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) in order to get a good offer for containers. This website and spanish national secretary will keep you informed about that when proposal were received. In order to make this option as most attractive as possible, we are organizing the 2006 Open Spanish Championship in early June in Alicante (where the containers would come back from Florida). Of course, we can leave the trailers in Altea during the interim.
